Vivo X200 Launched: Featuring Dimensity 9400, Zeiss Cameras, and Quad-Curved Display

While the two Pro models tend to steal the spotlight, the standard Vivo X200 also boasts several impressive, cutting-edge features. It shares the new generation of Zeiss cameras, delivering exceptional photography capabilities, along with a high-performance chipset. All of this is housed in a durable yet stylish design, making the X200 a strong contender in the premium smartphone market.

The Vivo X200 is driven by the powerful Dimensity 9400, a chipset that has been making waves in performance benchmarks. Built on a second-generation 3nm process, its all-big-core architecture was developed in collaboration with Vivo, ARM, and MediaTek. The processor features a prime Cortex-X925 core clocked at 3.626GHz, paired with up to 16GB of RAM, which can be further expanded using virtual RAM. The storage options—256GB, 512GB, or 1TB—can also be extended, thanks to Vivo’s innovative storage compression technology, providing even greater flexibility.

The Vivo X200, like its Pro counterpart, sports a stunning quad-curved 6.67-inch display with Zeiss Natural Color technology, delivering industry-leading color accuracy. The display is a 10-bit LTPS panel with HDR10+ support, featuring high-frequency PWM dimming to ensure a flicker-free experience. It can reach an impressive brightness of up to 4,500 nits. Additionally, the display offers triple the longevity of standard OLED panels while reducing power consumption. Unlike the Pro models, the X200 uses an optical fingerprint reader.

On the camera front, the X200 is equipped with a 50MP Sony IMX921 sensor, which measures 1/1.56″. While smaller than the LYT-818 sensor found in the Pro models, it’s comparable to the one in the Vivo X100. The sensor is paired with an f/1.57 Zeiss lens featuring T* coating for enhanced clarity and reduced glare.

The familiar Oreo-style camera module on the Vivo X200 houses a versatile 70mm f/2.57 telephoto lens with T* coating. While it lacks the 200MP sensor found in the Pro models, it features a 50MP IMX882 sensor (1/1.95″). Additionally, the X200 is equipped with a 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 15mm focal length for expansive shots.

The device is powered by a 5,800mAh BlueVolt battery, an 800mAh increase over last year’s X100. It supports 90W wired-only charging, a slight reduction from the 120W charging of its predecessor. Despite the larger battery, the X200 is more compact, with a 6.67” display and a 7.99mm thickness, compared to the X100’s 6.78” display and 8.5mm thickness.

The Vivo X200 improves upon the X100’s IP68 rating with an IP69 rating, providing enhanced protection against hot water jets, making it even more durable in extreme conditions.

A standout feature of the new X200 series is its offline communication capability. Co-developed by Vivo and MediaTek, this feature allows users to send messages over a range of up to 1km (0.6 miles) without cellular coverage, utilizing Bluetooth technology. It supports SOS text broadcasting, one-on-one voice and text communication, location sharing, and more. This technology was tested by scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in network-devoid regions of Mount Everest.

The X200 debuts with OriginOS 5, which introduces several new features, including “Origin Island,” a dynamic notification system similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island, and a custom “circle to search” function. For the Chinese market, Vivo has integrated an AI model capable of note-taking and copywriting. It’s yet to be seen how Vivo will adapt these features for the international market.

Like its Pro sibling, the Vivo X200 is available in four striking color options: Sapphire Blue, Titanium Grey, Moonlight White, and Carbon Black. The Sapphire Blue variant is brand new, offering a gem-like finish that shifts in appearance under different lighting conditions. Pre-orders for the Vivo X200 begin today, with the official release set for October 19.

The base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at CNY 4,300 (approximately $605/€555/₹51,000). Additional configurations include 12GB/512GB for CNY 4,700, 16GB/512GB for CNY 5,000, and a top-tier model with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage for CNY 5,500. As of now, there’s no word on a global launch.
