Recent DxOMark results have taken many by surprise, revealing that the iPhone 16 Pro Max, once a frontrunner in smartphone photography, now lags behind Chinese competitors such as the Vivo X100 Pro, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, and Huawei Pura 70 Ultra. This shift is a shock for Apple fans, as Chinese smartphone manufacturers have made remarkable advancements in telephoto and ultrawide photography.

Chinese Smartphones Make Strides in Camera Performance

One of the standout areas where Chinese smartphones are thriving is in telephoto capabilities. DxOMark reports that devices like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Vivo X100 Pro have outperformed the iPhone 16 Pro Max, particularly in long-range photography, offering enhanced detail. Images from these Chinese models consistently demonstrate better skin tone accuracy and less noise, whereas the iPhone 16 Pro Max has struggled with noticeable noise and softer details.
